Breathing is one of the most important aspects of our life we give very little credit to or awareness of, yet studies now prove that we can control our health, happiness and well-being through our breath. If we suffer from anxiety, trauma, or are generally unhealthy in any way, this will more than likely reflect in poor breathing.
The term “breathwork” refers to the Yogic Sanskrit term pranayama. Prana- means life force energy, and -ayama means control. So basically, what the true yogis have been focused on for thousands of years is, life force energy control, and it is done through the breath.
There are literally 100’s of different pranayama (or “breathwork”) practices from various traditions that are 1000’s of years old. Pranayama is like a medicine cabinet, it can be used for different ailments and to achieve different results.
Breathwork practices are designed to provide you with specific results for specific needs, and they are highly effective in doing so. Practiced accordingly, they will not only elevate your understanding of the mind-body-spirit connection, they can completely shift your awareness, mind & life in an extraordinary way. Patience is essential as we are teaching our body new ways of breathing, and feeling comfortable in some of these practices may take time.
