The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga asanas (postures) are beneficial for the muscles, joints, cardiovascular system, endocrine and lymphatic system.  They work on a deeper level on our meridians and strengthen our nervous system which harmonises our body and mind. Breath awareness plays an important part in yoga.  When we co-ordinate our breath with our movement the breath naturally deepens and our circulation and metabolism are stimulated.  Correct breathing is fundamental for our body’s optimum function.  With regular practice yoga breathing becomes natural which helps our whole physical condition and develops a calm and clear mind.

Benefits of regular practice are:

  • Overall flexibility
  • Joints become more mobile
  • Muscles are toned
  • Lymphatic system and metabolism are stimulated
  • Immune system is strengthened
  • Nervous system is calmed and strengthened
  • Digestion is strong and balanced
